A legend of the game, ex-Bayern Munich and Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has touched millions of hearts. As he plays his last ever tournament as a professional footballer, legendary football coach José Mourinho reminds us to cherish some of his (and other players’) last few moments on the biggest stage of European football.
When asked about which players to watch with ‘sadness’ in an interview with Tz’s Phillip Kessler, Mourinho said: “I would say Toni Kroos, Luka Modrić and Cristiano Ronaldo. Because I believe it is the last EURO for them. And I say sadness because players like them we don’t see many times. In the case of Cristiano and Modrić, football was nice to them and gave them the pride of being considered the best in the world. I think Kroos has not been appreciated enough considering what a player he is. For me, he’s an absolutely incredible player.” (via @iMiaSanMia)
And he is right. Kroos is brilliance personified, and even in his final games, he continues to show his class. the brilliant performance against Scotland is just one of many to come in this tournament — and fans will watch every game with tears in their eyes.
José reminds the footballing world about the legends we are going to lose – and to celebrate this EUROs tournament as their last dance.
