Former Bayern Munich boss and current German national team coach heaped some praise on to captain İlkay Gündoğan.
“He worked a lot, was in touch with us on the sidelines a lot, he tried to guide and control the game. He’s a very clever player, we have to trust him a lot. He was Man City’s captain when they won the Champions League and he was one of their best players. We all have to push him a bit, because we know what’s inside him,” said Nagelsmann (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Gündoğan’s role is solid and will not be changed. Like it or not, the FC Barcelona man is staying in the starting lineup, but if he can continue to put in positive performances like he did against Hungary, no one — not even his biggest detractors — will be able to argue about his position on the squad.
