Per Christian Falk, Olise was the subject of extensive talks between the two clubs on Saturday. Now all that’s left is confirmation from the supervisory board, and Bayern can trigger the release clause and bring Olise to Munich.
Olise will be expected to take over the duties of Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, who have come under fire in recent seasons for their inconsistency and injury problems. The 22-year-old Frenchman is part of Max Eberl’s attempts to lighten the wage bill and refresh the squad with an infusion of talent.
At nearly sixty million euros, Olise will end up being one of the most expensive Bayern Munich transfer ever, behind only the likes of Harry Kane, Matthijs de Ligt, and Lucas Hernandez. Will he bring the spark Vincent Kompany needs to take his team to the next level? We won’t know until preseason, which is still a long way away.
