According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Joshua Kimmich is unlikely to extend his contract with Bayern Munich at this juncture:
Joshua Kimmich is currently unlikely to extend his contract at Bayern. A separation is getting closer. The player would be ready to go into the final year of his contract. Bayern, willing to sell this summer. Talks with Kimmich will take place after the EUROs.
However, Sport1’s Stefan Kumberger (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) is reporting that Kimmich is not thinking about leaving the Bavarians just yet:
Joshua Kimmich is currently not thinking about leaving Bayern. The player knows he’s in a comfortable position and has good prospects of finding a top club after his Bayern contract expires next summer. If he leaves on a free transfer, he can also expect a good signing-on fee. Within the club, however, they can certainly imagine selling Kimmich this summer. In their efforts to reduce the wage bill, Kimmich’s salary is also a topic within the club, as he’s one of the top earners in the squad.
Kimmich would be willing to speak to the club, but would also like to see more positive signals from the new management with Eberl and Freund. So far, the club’s bosses have generally not spoken highly of the current players. Instead, they keep talking about a rebuild.
The lack of communication from the front office to several existing players at this stage is alarming. Whether Kimmich is planning on staying or going, the new regime seems to be failing on building a rapport through communication with several key veterans.
