Man United are closing in on their first major summer sale, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka reaching an agreement on terms with Galatasaray.
Manchester United were always going to upset the applecart somewhat this summer, as the Reds look to trim down the playing squad and re-invest that money in new signings.
No first-team sales have been made to this point, though some big names have left on free transfers; Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial included.
Last week, we covered the latest on Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future, with ‘The Spider’ attracting interest from Galatasaray. Now, those stories have been backed up.
It’s Fanatik with the latest claim, as United are seemingly closing in on their first major summer sale. The Turkish media outlet state that Wan-Bissaka has reached an ‘agreement on everything’ with the Turkish club, as the 26-year-old nears a Reds exit.
While personal terms between Wan-Bissaka and Galatasaray are pretty much complete, the two sides still have to come to an agreement in regard to transfer fee.
United have set a £12.6m asking price for the Englishman, though Galatasaray are looking to pay a maximum of £8.5m to acquire the right-back.
The Old Trafford club spent £50m to sign Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace, though with one year left on his deal, United were always going to take a hit on the transfer fee. I wasn’t expecting it to be this large of a gap in price, though.
United have always been notoriously bad sellers, though this takes the biscuit a little bit. Honestly, if Galatasaray aren’t willing to pay anymore than their current offer, I’d absolutely walk away and keep Wan-Bissaka at the club. He may not be the most talented player in that Reds dressing room, but he’s certainly consistent.
