Just when you thought Bayern Munich might be winning the battle on all of its transfer pursuits, Chelsea FC could be outgunning the Bavarians for FC Barcelona striker Marc Guiu per Fabrizio Romano (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
If true, Bayern Munich could already have a contingency plan in place:
Chelsea and Bayern were pushing to sign Barcelona striker Marc Guiu for his €6m release clause. But at the moment, Chelsea have overtaken Bayern in the race for the player after they had positive contacts with the player’s camp over the weekend. Not a done deal yet, but talks are advanced. Bayern, meanwhile, are still in the mix for Arsenal striker Chido Obi-Martin and pushing for him as another option.
Bayern Munich’s desire to bring in another striker is not necessarily a pursuit based on “need”, but more likely on “want.”
With a summer full of potential transfer targets, it does not appear as if the Bavarians will stop any pursuit if a Plan A fails.
