Sunderland starlet Jobe Bellingham could be at the centre of a transfer tussle between three Premier League clubs, talkSPORT understands.
The 18-year-old – brother of England hero Jude – enjoyed a fine opening season at the Stadium of Light following his move from Birmingham last summer.
He chipped in with seven goals and one assist in 45 Championship games to help the Black Cats to a 16th-placed finish.
It was an impressive tally from the teenager considering he was deployed as a striker, as well as in the attacking and defensive midfield positions.
And the England youth international’s form has sparked interest from top-flight teams, which includes Crystal Palace, Brentford and Southampton.
Though Sunderland are determined to keep hold of the player, and have slapped an asking price of at least £20million in the hope of deterring potential suitors.
Following the end of the 2023/23 Championship campaign, Bellingham discussed his future where he reflected on his opening year in red and white.
And in a possible blow to his admirers, he hinted that he would be keen to continue his development in Wearside.
Commenting on his goals for next season, Bellingham joked that he can’t wait to play in the club’s new kits.
He told Sunderland’s media department: “Obviously, I’ve seen the kits, which is probably the most exciting thing at the moment.
“Because they’re obviously amazing. But no, I’ve not got any goals set. That’ll be in the summer when we come back to pre-season, really.
“I think that’s the best way to do it, kind of just focus on what’s in front of you.”
Pressed on his plans to improve. he remarked: “When you’re someone like I am, where I just want to hit the next milestone and keep improving and getting better.
“I feel quite desperate to improve and stuff. And sometimes it can make me a bit impatient, but it’s definitely something important that you need to look back and be proud of yourself, really.
“Because there are things that I should be proud of myself for. But at the same time, I don’t want to stand still and just look in the past.
“I want to make sure I keep improving and keep getting better. But definitely, at the end of the season, I can look back and be proud.”
Bellingham is currently in Germany cheering on his brother and the Three Lions at Euro 2024, where he has been spotted in the stands alongside his parents.
