According to a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in his work for CaughtOffside (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich’s wing situation for the 2024/25 campaign is becoming clear, but that does not mean it will be easy to get down to the final number of wingers that the club would like to carry.
The impending arrival of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, will make things complex for new coach Vincent Kompany — at least for a little while. Olise joins Leroy Sané, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, Bryan Zaragoza, and Mathys Tel on the winger depth chart with Jamal Musiala, Thomas Müller, and Alphonso Davies as other players, who could be options to play as wings or wide midfielders.
Managing all of that talent will not be easy, so departures are expected:
On the future of Bayern’s wingers after the signing of Olise: ‘My understanding is that Bayern are happy with Leroy Sané, while Serge Gnabry has publicly said that he’d be happy to stay, so we’ll see what happens in case of proposals. Kingsley Coman is probably the player I’d say has the highest chances of leaving Bayern – he’s open to possible proposals and so are Bayern, but despite links with PSG the race is still absolutely open, it’s not something concrete or imminent, despite what’s been reported elsewhere.’
In a weird way, the wing position could look vastly different…or exactly the same as it is now by the end of August. There might not really be an in-between.
