The wheels are already in full motion with regards to Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window as the club has now secured Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, following up on their acquisition of Hiroki Ito from VfB Stuttgart.
There are a handful of key players linked with potential moves away from Munich this summer, but Vincent Kompany, Max Eberl, Christoph Freund and company are also diligently working to bring in the players the want to bring in this summer.
Bayer Leverkusen center-back Jonathan Tah has been a player that has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern even before the past Bundesliga season has ended. Despite lifting both the Meisterschale and DFB-Pokal with Die Werkself this past season, the German international is looking for a change and only wants to join Bayern. However, there have been some differences in valuations between Leverkusen and Bayern for the player, which has made the transfer saga a bit stretched and elongated, compounded by the fact that he is currently at the Euros with Germany.
Per information from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, there is some reassurance, though — at least from Bayern’s perspective. Per Plettenberg, both Bayern and Leverkusen remain in regular contact regarding the potential Tah transfer this summer and the negotiations for the move to materialize. He also doubled down on the fact that Tah has expressed his desire to leave Leverkusen, and to only leave to join Bayern; no other club.
There is also already a contract valid through the summer of 2029 ready and waiting for Tah to sign once all of the negotiations have reached a point that pleases all parties involved in the move. Leverkusen could perhaps be doing a little bit of posturing given that they are more than well aware that center back Matthijs De Ligt could be on his way out of Munich this summer as well as the same possibility potentially being true for Dayot Upamecano. There could still yet be a decent amount of movement amongst Bayern’s back line that could give Leverkusen a bit more wiggle room at the negotiating table.
