According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich has agreed to personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain attacker Xavi Simons and his management team.
However, the Bavarians still need to work out an agreement with PSG to get the deal fully over the finish line:
Understand FC Bayern have already agreed the most important personal terms with #Xavi and his management!
Max Eberl is not giving up and is working on reaching an agreement with Paris/Eindhoven. Negotiations ongoing. Bayern definitely want him now!
A potential deal also depends on Xavi‘s final decision as RB Leipzig is still in the race.
Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman commented on Bayern Munich’s interest in Simons as well.
“Xavi is a big talent and big talents can play anywhere. He has already shown that in the Netherlands and last season in Leipzig. He is part of the Dutch national team – and when you have achieved that, you can also play for Bayern Munich,” Koeman told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Xavi, his family and his entourage are very serious. They are thinking carefully about which step is the best for him. Just like they did when he went from Eindhoven to Leipzig. I don’t know anything more than that because we are busy with the EUROs. But I wish each of my young players the best possible club to develop further.”
If the deal does get finalized, it would represent yet another block in the rebuilding experience for the Bavarians, who could bring in both Simons and Crystal Palace attacker Michael Olise to join a group that already includes Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, Mathys Tel, Thomas Müller, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sané, and Bryan Zaragoza.
Clearly, some chips will have to fall to accommodate the new bodies arriving (assuming the deals get finalized).
