According to transfer expert expert Fabrizio Romano (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Germany international Joshua Kimmich is ready to leave Bayern Munich if an agreement cannot be reached.
Right now, Kimmich is busy with the EURO 2024 competition and because he represents himself, is not able to dedicate time to work on a new deal with the Bavarians. If an accord is not reached in the coming weeks after the EUROs, Kimmich could begin eyeing a career in the Premier League or elsewhere per Romano:
Joshua Kimmich is ready to consider a transfer out of Bayern if no agreement is reached. The Premier League could be a destination for him. Many clubs have him on their list. If he decides to leave Bayern, it’s a concrete possibility.
There are variables in this situation which include:
- The aforementioned contract extension negotiations.
- Where new coach Vincent Kompany’s envisions using Kimmich (if at all).
- Kimmich’s preference on playing in the central midfield or at right-back.
- Just how much cost-cutting Bayern Munich wants to do with player salaries.
- The market for a player like Kimmich.
While Romano points out that Kimmich could leave, there is no guarantee that he will leave just yet. Surely, once EUROs are over, Kimmich will take a break and then dive headfirst into preparations for next season, which will include several key discussions with Bayern Munich over his future.
Kimmich’s contract expires in 2025, which means he could sit tight for a year and truly determine his own future next summer by leaving Bavaria for free. Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool FC, Arsenal FC, and Paris Saint-Germain are all reportedly interested in the 29-year-old.
