Centre-back Jordan Torunarigha is now being linked with a move to West Ham United this summer.
Max Kilman is closing in on a transfer to West Ham from Wolves, for a fee believed to be close to £40 million.
Julen Lopetegui is acting in a relentless manner this summer, as he works alongside Tim Steidten to get the Hammers squad up to scratch.
The squad left behind by David Moyes was an extremely unbalanced, ageing and injury prone one, so the West Ham recruitment team certainly have their work cut out this summer.
Lopetegui needs to strengthen pretty much every department of his squad. The need for a new striker has been well-documented for around two years now, but the centre-back department is in desperate need of urgent attention as well.
That’s taking into account the imminent arrival of Kilman as well!
So could Jordan Torunarigha be a sensible signing in addition to the Wolves skipper?
Who is West Ham target Jordan Torunarigha
Last month, Florian Plettenberg claimed that the Hammers made an enquiry for the Gent ace.
And now, Sacha Tavolieri is suggesting that the Belgian side want to raise funds by selling the central defender this summer.
So the door is now wide open for Lopetegui to strengthen his central defensive ranks even further still it seems.
Let’s delve into what the towering centre-back could bring to the Hammers.
Jordan Torunarigha was born in Germany on August 7th, 1997.
The 26-year-old began his youth career with German club Chemnitzer FC, before moving on to Hertha Berlin when he was just nine, in 2006.
After 16 years there, he joined Belgian side Gent on loan in 2022, before making his switch a permanent one.
Standing at 6ft 3in tall, he is a strong and physically imposing centre-back, and has the ability to dominate opposing strikers with his awesome strength.
Last season, he bagged three goals and two assists in 28 league games for Gent. During those appearances, he averaged 1.3 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, 2.2 clearances and 1.8 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).
Jordan Torunarigha really is an all-round athlete, and if West Ham sign him this summer, I think it would be a good deal for us, if we are able to get him for a reasonable fee of course.
