According to a report from Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich addressed the German national team in the locker room after a soul-crushing 2-1 defeat to Spain.
Kimmich seized the moment to thank his teammates, the coaches, and staff for the work they put in toward making the EURO 2024 feel different than Germany’s last few major tournaments:
Joshua Kimmich gave a speech in the dressing room after yesterday’s game, saying that this exit was different to the tournaments before. He thanked the staff and especially thanked Toni Kroos.
Kimmich: “I wanted to thank everyone who was there for their efforts. And I wanted to thank Toni. He celebrated incredible titles and records. I would have loved to have won another title with him. For me, he’s indisputably the greatest German player we’ve had. It’s also remarkable what kind of guy, what kind of person he is. He’s a role model for all of us in the dressing room.”
Kimmich will now probably decompress and take a vacation before addressing his future in Bavaria. Rumors are swirling about a potential exit, but for now, all of that chatter can take a backseat to absorbing everything that happened over the past month for the 29-year-old.
