With Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC, and Paris Saint-Germain all keeping tabs on Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich, PSG could be the club who takes the lead:
It is becoming abundantly clear that FC Barcelona is willing to play the waiting game if necessary. While the club may not have all the guarantees they need right now to pursue their most attractive operations, they believe it is only a matter of time before they do. Unfortunately, time does not wait for any man, and neither does it wait for Barcelona.
The Catalan club is doing what they believe is the most sustainable way to go about this ongoing summer window. Despite their best efforts, it is also clear to see that there are other clubs with the resources that Barcelona does not possess and they will not be stopping in their own shopping spree within the market waiting for Barça to catch up.
Such is the unfortunate timing that there is now a possibility that one of the key Barcelona targets in the market may now be snatched up by another suitor. According to Mundo Deportivo, who have highlighted that the news came from Fabrizio Romano, French side Paris Saint-Germain has now joined the fight to sign Joshua Kimmich.
The Ligue 1 side seems to really like the player and this has been confirmed by several reports. With Bayern Munich now willing to sell their German star for the right offer in order to avoid letting him go for free next summer, PSG are presenting themselves as a very viable buyer.
Unfortunately for Barcelona, this spells nothing but trouble on all ends. The German star, despite having some internal conflicts with Bayern in recent times, remains a key target for Barcelona and the only thing currently coming in the way of finalizing such an operation is the financial aspect of things.
For PSG, that side of things practically does not exist. MD reports that the Parisian side will be able to outdo FC Barcelona in any financial offer they make, whether it be the one they offer to Bayern or the personal terms that are offered to the 29-year-old German star currently playing in the European Championship.
Manchester City have also previously joined this same hunt for Kimmich. In that case, there were even reports suggesting that the Barcelona target would be more than open to a move over to the Premier League champions. Hansi Flick, however, still hopes to see Kimmich dressed in Blaugrana but things seem unlikely to pan out in the favor of Barcelona when it comes to this deal.
Kimmich’s future with Bayern Munich is more uncertain than ever. As of now, it does not appear as if Vincent Kompany or the Bayern Munich brass has “go forward” plans that include Kimmich (or at least plans for Kimmich making his current salary).
That all could change in the coming weeks, but as of now…it does not look good.
It looks like former Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee will likely be joining his countryman, Matthijs de Ligt, at Manchester United if both of those deals go through to completion:
Manchester United have green light from both Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt to join the club.
Both players have spoken to Erik ten Hag with Man United now ready to advance on club side in the coming days.
It’s all approved on salary/commission also for Zirkzee. pic.twitter.com/3smr51uuOa

Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg had some details on how this might affect Bayern Munich finances (hint: it would be a nice boost):
Yes, Manchester United feeling that they are now very close to sign Joshua #Zirkzee!
There were personal chats between Ten Hag and Zirkzee in recent days as the 23 y/o is their desired striker target. Personal terms not an issue.

Plettenberg also added this as well:

Crucial revenue for Bayern’s next steps in the transfer market.
Germany and Spain hooked for a heavyweight battle in the EURO 2024 quarterfinals.
It was the rare game that truly lived up to the anticipation, intensity, and energy that you would expect to see — and Spain outlasted Germany for a devastating 2-1 loss for the Germans. The game featured questioned lineup selections, incredible amounts of energy and intensity, and tangible tension that was present throughout.
In short, it was not just a match, but an experience. Here is a look at what we have on tap to break it all down on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
- A look at Julian Nagelsmann’s starting XI for Germany and why it was considered to be so controversial.
- Nagelsmann’s penchant for tinkering is still his biggest weakness.
- A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
- Joshua Kimmich is a clutch player in every sense.
- What a crushing way to lose.
- Bottom line, Germany didn’t finish its chances.
- What did we learn from the this Germany run?
- Where does Germany go from here?
Remember when Bayern Munich was outdueled on Karim Adeyemi by Borussia Dortmund?
Bullet dodged, eh?
No matter how you feel about Adeyemi’s time with BVB, it looks like he might be moving on to Chelsea FC as the London club is ramping up its pursuit efforts:
Germany and Bayer Leverkusen standout Florian Wirtz was honored with a spot on the “Team of the Round” by WhoScored.com. Wirtz was Germany’s only player listed:
Meanwhile, over on this side of the world, Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies earned some recognition from WhoScored.com as well:
Germany is in the EURO 2024 quarterfinals. Bayern Munich seems like it might torch some key players on its roster, and we are sitting here wondering why it just can’t all come together on both fronts to make for a smooth and seamless summer!
That is never the way, but it is also why we are here doing this podcast, so let’s get cracking with a look at what is on tap for this episode of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
- Early thoughts on Germany vs. Spain at EURO 2024.
- Matthijs de Ligt looks like he is headed to Manchester United.
- Bayern Munich has agreed on personal terms with Xavi Simons, but that does not mean a deal is imminent.
- Arijon Ibrahimović re-upped with Bayern Munich and will be on the first team, but with what role?
- Bayern Munich could be asking Joshua Kimmich to take a 15% pay decrease. Would he do it? Does he even fit into Vincent Kompany’s plans?
- A shout to an upstart Bayern Munich fan club in Louisville, Kentucky (@MiaSanLou on X).
Chelsea FC and Napoli could be tinkering with the idea of swapping Romelu Lukaku + cash for Victor Osimhen:
Napoli have told Chelsea they are prepared to lower their asking price for striker Victor Osimhen down to €100m (£84.6m), with the Serie A side hoping to strike a deal that would see Romelu Lukaku move in the opposite direction.
England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford had notes for handling Switzerland’s penalty-takers in the event that the game got to that stage.
Of course, it did and Pickford’s “dive left” note for Manuel Akanji came up big:
Bayern Munich and Germany both have a lot to mull over in upcoming weeks. We address some of those issues in this podcast:

- Thoughts on Germany’s problems against Denmark.
- Thoughts on Nico Schlotterbeck’s performance — should he retain his spot?

- Thoughts on what makes Spain exceptional in UEFA EURO 2024.
- Should Nagelsmann start Niclas Füllkrug?
- Looking back at the history of Germany vs. Spain.
- A look at Bayern Munich’s defense — will Matthijs de Ligt actually be sold?
- Thoughts on Michael Olise’s seemingly impending moving to Bayern.
- More Bayern musings and thoughts on Tah as well as João Palhinha.
Liverpool FC is the latest big club who is toying with the idea of entering the sweepstakes for Lille center-back phenom Leny Yoro. While most believe Yoro is moving to real Madrid, Liverpool could make a play:
Liverpool are prepared to meet Lille’s demands of £50.8m for centre-back Leny Yoro but believe the young defender is still waiting to join Real Madrid.
Imagine starting a match and only completing one pass against Uruguay:
Which one? Well…
