Manchester United will win the Premier League before Liverpool do.
That is the verdict from Dutch legend Wesley Sneijder, who fancies Erik ten Hag to triumph over Arne Slot.
Liverpool brought in Slot from Feyenoord this summer to replace Jurgen Klopp, who left at the end of last season having won every major trophy.
Whether the 45-year-old can replicate the success of the German at Anfield remains to be seen while Ten Hag has been rewarded with a new contract at United.
And it will mean that the two Dutch coaches will do battle next season while Sneijder is hedging his bets on Ten Hag to emerge victorious.
“They are both good coaches. Slot did an amazing job with Feyenoord and at United, they are very confident with Ten Hag.
“He has extended his contract, also Ruud Van Nistelrooy, I just got the news that he will be involved.
“So I think they can do a big job because they have amazing players at United. There has to be a team, they need time.
“That is what it is looking like so far, they give time to build a team. I think this season they will go for some prizes.
When asked who will win the Premier League first between Liverpool and United, Sneijder replied: “Manchester United.
“Because they have time to build something, the coach will stay and they are confident enough in the coach to build on something.
“So I believe they will be stronger this season than last season.”
Slot led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title in 2023 before finishing runners-up last season to PSV Eindhoven, though they did win the KNVB Cup.
Ten Hag, meanwhile, has won two trophies with United in two seasons in charge – the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup earlier this year.
There had been reports that the Red Devils coach could have been sacked after the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
But the former Ajax coach has survived the axe at Old Trafford despite links with Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel.
