There’s some good news and bad news for West Ham United this morning, when it comes to our hopes of signing Albert Gudmundsson this summer.
Albert Gudmundsson first emerged as a transfer target for West Ham back in the January transfer window, but Tottenham have been chasing him since then as well.
Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui will be desperate to strengthen his attacking ranks at the London Stadium further still this summer, in spite of the recent signing of Luis Guilherme.
The Spaniard may well be keen to bring a new number 10 to the London Stadium, with Lucas Paqueta apparently trying to engineer a summer exit from the club.
Gudmundsson should be one of the Spaniard’s key targets due to his incredible recent output, and by all accounts he is.
The Genoa star seems to be set for a move away from Serie A this summer, but do the Hammers really have a chance of signing him?
There has been some good and bad news for West Ham in that regard…
Albert Gudmundsson to West Ham could be on but there’s an issue
The electric Genoa star raised some eyebrows last season with his exceptional performances in Serie A.
He was one of the standout attacking performers in Italy, and now he could be set for a big move to the Premier League.
The Hammers have received some really good news this morning in our pursuit of the Icelandic ace.
Calcio Genoa claim that Gudmundsson is ‘attracted’ by the prospect of joining West Ham this summer.
There’s more good news for the Hammers as well. Last week, it was claimed that Genoa wanted £34 million up front for the 27-year-old.
The new report suggests that the Serie A side will actually demand just £25 million for the Icelandic ace though.
However, the bad news is that the 27-year-old is also attracted by the potential of a move to Tottenham.
So, West Ham won’t have a clear run at signing Albert Gudmundsson, if Tottenham do indeed throw their hat into the ring for the Genoa star’s signature.
Hopefully we will be able to beat Spurs to the signing of Gudmundsson – he’s a huge talent and missing out on him to our bitter rivals would really hurt.
The 27-year-old is an elite attacking midfielder, and he can operate on either wing as well if need be.
The Iceland international bagged 16 goals and five assists for Genoa last season. He possesses exceptional technical ability, impressive pace, is incredibly fit and an excellent finisher.
West Ham signing Albert Gudmundsson this summer would be a big statement, but can we beat Tottenham to his signature? That remains to be seen…
