Bobby De Cordova-Reid has joined, but still not the man to fight for that main striker position in a forward line possibly just having one man on top, but rumours and different fansites believe Steve Cooper could be flirting with a two men up front in a three five two set up.
Tom Cannon, Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka are all alternatives to fill the role, Cannon being rumoured to be given a chance to leave on loan, possibly to Championship action, without any other club mentioned at this point.
Patson Daka is a raw diamond, but his contribution last season, given a number of opportunities from Enzo Maresca, never really convinced anyone about him having the ability to be a regular and hitting the net as much as needed. Jamie Vardy will be in and around the team, but this season being more an option in and out than a regular starter in every game.
In our tempt and eager to find good and possible alternatives, we have a number of names to suggest. Olympiacos forward Ayoub El Kaabi (31) is out of contract in June 2025, and could be available for a cut price. His goalscoring ratio and work ethic is one to address.
Martin Braithwaite from Espanyol is one player to be talked up as a potential signing for a limited fee of just £0,5million. Braithwaite (33) has a proven record, and of course knows a number of the players at Leicester. He would fit the picture as a potential rolling partner with Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka, getting game time all three. Braithwaite can operate in other positions as well, out wide or just behind the forward. He would be a good squad alternative.
A reunion between Chris Wood and Steve Cooper could well be something to consider, as the former Leicester forward do have abilities and attributes the squad lack, in power and height. Wood is a free agent and can join without any transfer fee being paid.
Leicester chief scout Sean St Ledger, earlier in the year, reported to be on a tour to South America to look up alternative players, with a few linked and our own little favourie being mentioned, Ponte Preta forward Jeh, who we made a report on, is currently watched and considered, and would have been a fantastic and interesting option to bring in. He is currently been linked with a move to Santos. At the age of 24, with his goal ratio, a player that would of course be a special wild card, but be comfortable in competition for that top spot up front.
Mario Balotelli (33) is also a free agent this summer, but with his special reputation he might not be what Steve Cooper is looking for, but still one very special. Looking at his goalscoring ratio, you will be surprised how often he scores, and in his stay at Adana Demirspor he has scored 25 goals in 49 league games. His total goal tally is 189 goals in 467 official games. Jamie Vardy has scored, in his time at Leicester, 190 in 464, so almost similar. Balotelli is a free agent, to have seen him up front alongside Jamie Vardy would have been a duet of heavy metal material.
Hopefully Steve Cooper will find his man, but we do believe the team needs a strong, tall alternative player with a good goalscoring ratio.
