Michael Olise, the 22-year-old former Crystal Palace attacker, is officially a Bayern Munich player after a €60m deal saw the French talent swap the blue and red of Crystal Palace for the red and white of Germany’s record champions.
The London-born attacker becomes Bayern’s second transfer of the window following the surprise €23m signing of former Stuttgart defender, Hiroki Ito.
At nearly three times the price of Ito, Olise certainly cost a pretty penny but where exactly does he stack up in Bayern’s most expensive signings of all time?
In comparison to some of Europe’s elites, Real Madrid’s fourth most expensive transfer of all time is Cristiano Ronaldo (€94m), Manchester City’s is Rúben Dias (€71.6m) and Neymar being Barcelona’s (€88m). To become the Bavarian’s fourth most expensive transfer of all time at €60m is a testament to how tightly they have run their transfer business (at least in the past).
Interestingly, the former Crystal Palace man is the second most expensive attacker in Bayern Munich’s transfer history, pipping Leroy Sané’s €49m and falling short of Harry Kane’s mammoth €95m.
Time is yet to tell if Olise will live up to being Bayern Munich’s fourth most expensive transfer of all time, but either way, Die Rekordmeister certainly have an exciting talent on their books.
