Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer likes the hiring of Vincent Kompany as the club’s latest head coach, but did caution that the position did not guarantee that the manager will get all of the transfers that he requests.
“He’s a strong personality and will bring new impulses and ideas. We want to do what is necessary for sporting success – but it’s always clear that the club’s economic stability must be guaranteed and everything must remain within limits,” Hainer told Welt (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Welt, though, did try to catch Hainer slipping regarding transfers. Specifically, the German publication posed a question like this: “Uli Hoeneß said something like: If FC Bayern were to spend another €100m on a player like Harry Kane, then it would be on Florian Wirtz…”
Hainer interjected quickly with a laugh: “Nice try. Florian Wirtz is an incredibly good player. We can be happy that we have such players in Germany who are admired by the whole world. But I read that he will definitely play in Leverkusen in the new season.”
It was a good try…
