West Ham have issued an exciting response to claims about a bid for Aston Villa star Jhon Duran as four targets are named, Hammers News can reveal.
The Hammers have wanted Villa striker Duran since last year.
West Ham technical director Tim Steidten had Colombian forward Duran on a list of targets.
But in the end David Moyes did not sign a new striker despite selling Gianluca Scamacca.
Since Moyes’ departure links to the wantaway Aston Villa striker have ramped up.
Just last week Duran made it clear he’s open to leaving Villa for West Ham.
Earlier today the likes of Fabrizio Romano confirmed what we reported on Hammers News last week, that West Ham have approached Aston Villa about signing Duran.
West Ham hungry like wolf for Duran
“West Ham have already submitted more than one bid for Jhon Durán to Aston Villa,” Romano said.
“Understand last proposal currently worth around £35m plus 10% sell-on clause.
“Negotiations underway, personal terms already agreed with Duran.”
The news has sparked excitement among West Ham fans while also raising some eyebrows over the fee.
It comes after West Ham told Hammers News the focus is now on signing a striker after the capture of Max Kilman.
Hammers News has reached out to the club for some clarity on the situation.
Now West Ham have issued an exciting response to claims about the bid for Aston Villa star Duran as four targets are named.
West Ham respond to Durn bid claims as four targets named
The top spokesman at West Ham has confirmed Villa’s 20-year-old forward is indeed a target.
But the key senior London Stadium contact says he’s certainly not the only one.
That has also been echoed by journalist Graeme Bailey, who has named West Ham’s four current striker targets.
Although Bailey has revealed one of those is growing impatient with a lack of progress on a potential move to east London.
“Duran is one of many we are looking at,” a West Ham spokesman told Hammers News.
Journalist Bailey claims Duran, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Chelsea outcast Armando Broja and Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri comprise West Ham’s current striker shortlist.
But the latter – who has also been linked with Aston Villa – is growing increasingly agitated at waiting for West Ham to make their move.
Concerns over Aston Villa star’s attitude
“I know he (Duran) is on the list but not sure whether he is the main one as he wants big wages to move too,” Bailey told Hammers News.
“But as ever a lot (of players are) being put to them (Steidten, Julen Lopetegui and David Sullivan).
“I would not rule out Broja to be honest, same with Calvert-Lewin and En-Nesyri, although he is getting annoyed about lack of progress and could go elsewhere.”
One thing that has been concerning some Hammers fans about the interest in Duran is the player’s attitude.
“The kid has a real attitude on him and that is why Unai Emery wants him out,” Bailey told Hammers News last week.
“But that doesn’t mean he isn’t worth a go. He is a talent.”
In January, journalist Alan Nixon stated West Ham had enquired about signing Duran.
But Villa rejected West Ham’s loan offer and he stayed in the Midlands.
Villa are looking to raise funds to help make signings against the backdrop of restrictive PSR rules.
The likes of Chelsea, Spurs and others have been linked with Duran of late.
