The EUROs march on. We’re into the last four — buckle in!
Spain vs. France — 3PM EDT
Spain stands alone as tournament favorites after knocking out host nation Germany in the quarterfinals in extra time.
But as the knockouts have shown, anything can happen in any game. Now both teams head into the semifinals off just a few short days’ rest before the next big test.
France has also arrived after playing a full 120’, defeating Portugal on pens. All five takers for France hit the mark, with Bayern Munich transfer target Theo Hernández striking the winner.
In France, Spain will run up against a Didier Deschamps team that does not seem to concede goals. Or score them, for that matter. The French have made it to the semifinals at this competition without scoring a single time from open play — as improbable a way of getting here as it was inevitable that they would.
Unlike the alt-right, however, the Spanish national team is no bunch of pushovers. Led by young prodigies Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal, Spain boasts the most sparkling attack remaining in the tournament. Expect a firecracker of a match in that most traditional of modes: the unstoppable force versus the immovable object.
