After falling behind 1-0, Spain battled back behind two spectacular goals to hold off France 2-1 — and clinch a spot in the EURO 2024 tournament.
After Randal Kolo Muani put France up 1-0 in the 8th minute, Spain looked like it might be down for the count, but the Spaniards shook off that early haymaker and did not give up.
First, FC Barcelona wunderkind Lamine Yamal hit a picture perfect left-foot curler to knot the game at 1-1. Yamal was a consistent thorn in the side of the French, who struggled to keep track of the youngster.
Just four minutes later, RB Leipzig star (and rumored Bayern Munich transfer target) Dani Olmo continued his torrid run of play with a fantastic touch to space before ripping off the game-winner in the 25th minute. Olmo, of course, had a goal and an assist in Spain’s quarterfinal victory over Germany last weekend.
While France did put together several stretches of solid play after conceding, the four-minute stretch where Spain scored both goals seemed to stun the Frenchmen.
