After three years spent with Premier League club Crystal Palace, the 22-year-old Michael Olise has left for Bayern Munich. Despite coming from Championship club Reading with no Premier League experience, he managed to quickly integrate himself into the team and become one of the most important players at the club.
Speaking after Bayern Munich made the signing of Olise official, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish had nothing but praise for the development the Frenchman had made at the The Eagles: “We are hugely proud of what Michael has achieved at Crystal Palace, a club where he has developed greatly as a player.”
But his departure was always going to happen. The club got an extra year out of the former Chelsea academy player after he made a sudden U-turn and rejected a move to Chelsea FC in favor of a new contract late in the 2023 summer transfer window. But now, after rejecting yet another advance from Chelsea, Olise has instead gotten the opportunity to test himself the summit of the game, as Parish acknowledged: “We respect his desire to further test himself at the highest level of world football, and I would like to personally wish him the very best for his next adventure with Bayern Munich in Germany which I’m sure we will all follow closely.”
Amicable exits are always preferable to acrimonious ones. Olise will be delighted to have achieved the former with Palace and now has the chance to look forward to writing a whole new chapter in Munich.
