According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain attacker Xavi Simons would not preclude the club from attempting to sign Bayern Leverkusen ace and German national team star Florian Wirtz in the summer of 2025:
Bayern have no concerns that signing Xavi Simons would ruin their chances of signing Florian Wirtz next summer. The club’s bosses believe that the transfer market cannot be planned a year in advance. Therefore, if there’s an opportunity to get Simons now, it should be seized, regardless of what happens with Wirtz next year.
While squad planning is an inexact science and the transfer market is tough to predict, this strategy comes with some risk and could be flawed because it could lead to an overcrowded roster, a bloated payroll, and the potential for disharmony. If true, the report begs the question if Bayern Munich operating with an established long-term plan or if the front office is using a read-and-react style to form its team.
Whatever the case, Bayern Munich has some expensive taste and will need to be financially prepared to pay the transfer fee for players in echelon, along with requisite salary requirements as well.
