Welcome to yet another FC Bayern Campus round up, as so much is happening in the Campus that it seems impossible to keep up. But BFW has you covered, as we explore `all the recent transfer dealings pertaining to Bayern Munich’s youth teams:
Bought on a free transfer last summer to help improve the quality up top in Bayern II’s squad, the 21-year-old right winger has moved to 3. Liga club Rot-Weiss Essen for an undisclosed fee. This represents a good deal for everyone: Berisha gets to play at a higher level after a decent season with Bayern II and Bayern II get to make space for the new superstar signing in Nestory Irankunda. Win win.
Talented midfielder Taichi Fukui has been loaned back to the Liga Portugal, the top footballing division in Portugal. Having joined Bayern II in the January of 2023, he played so well he earned a move to Portimonense SC in Liga Portugal in a loan that was meant to last beyond the summer. Unfortunately, Portimonense got relegated. Fukui’s performances in Portugal were impressive enough, however, to earn another move to a club in the Liga Portugal in the shape of Arouca. Taichi Fukui celebrates his 20th birthday on the 15th of July, yet he has already moved from South Korea to Germany to Portugal and impressed at every club he has been at. This is extremely impressive and indicates a bright future for the youngster.
Bayern signed center-back Liam Morrison as a genuine top talent from Scotland giants Celtic FC all the way back in 2019. The transfer was seen as a real coup. Unfortunately, injuries blighted the progress the immensely talented Morrison could make and left his development in a bit of a rut. Fortunately, when moving out on loan to Wigan in the English League one (third division in English football) this past season, Morrison took his chance and impressed on the island. He was impressive enough that QPR in the league above, the Championship, decided to swoop in for him, signing him for an undisclosed fee. Still just 21, Morrison has every chance of improving so long as he can avoid those terrible injuries. Who knows, he might end up in the Premier League one day.
15-year-old center back Cassiano Kiala and 16-year-old midfielder Mateo Matosevic join Bayern from the academies of Hertha BSC and Austrian club SV Ried respectively, with the club’s official website stating that they will be joining the U-17 side. Both have signed “long term” contracts at the club, according to the website, though the true length of the contracts remains undisclosed. Kiala was playing a year above at Hertha BSC, while Matosevic had already made his debut for SV Ried’s senior team in the second division of Austrian football. These two youngsters have a lot of room for growth, which they will hope to achieve in Munich.
