Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer might be feeling a little aggrieved in not having won the EUROs. Indications are that Neuer will play one more major tournament for Germany, barring injuries of course. Veteran striker Niclas Füllkrug, who has played in both the top two tiers of German football and knows a thing or two about injuries had this to say about Neuer according to @iMiaSanMia:
Niclas Füllkrug on the discussions around Manuel Neuer: “We don’t have any of these topics within the team. We have a clear hierarchy and a coaching staff that makes the decisions. Here are Füllkrug’s comments in full when asked about the discussions regarding Manu Neuer:
We don’t have any of these topics within the team. We have a clear hierarchy and a coaching staff that makes the decisions. As a team, we are completely behind that. We are spoiled in this position and have a surplus of quality. Manu is a goalkeeper who has an outstanding charisma and gives every team incredible support. After such an injury, mistakes like that can happen. But we are all behind him.
Neuer is a keeper who revolutionized the position; almost all the keepers in EURO 2024 had to know how to play out from the back as a result.
Do you believe Neuer should continue being Germany’s #1?
