Earlier this week, it was reported that FC Barcelona was going to attempt to make a double swoop for Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo, but now — as summer transfer window reports sometimes do — it appears that the Catalans are not alone in wanting the Bundesliga duo.
In fact, Pep Guardiola and Manchester City could also be looking to secure the twosome as well:
Manchester City are reportedly considering making an attempt to sign both Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo during this summer’s transfer window.
Kimmich is set to leave Bayern this summer in search of a fresh challenge, and a number of clubs are being credited with an interest in the Germany international.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool are all said to be keen on the 29-year-old, who only has a contract at Allianz Arena until June 2025.
However, according to The Sun, there is also interest from Man City, and Kimmich is open to a reunion with Pep Guardiola, having played under the Citizens head coach at Bayern.
The report claims that Bayern will ask for around £40m for Kimmich, who wants to play in midfield for his next club rather than in the right-back spot.
According to GiveMeSport, Olmo might actually not be on City’s radar at this stage, whch could benefit Bayern Munich:
Understand Manchester City have ruled out a move for Dani Olmo, despite reports. Chelsea also not considering a bid.
Olmo’s €60m release clause now expires on July 20 (as @FabrizioRomano called).
Barcelona have already discussed bringing Olmo back. They held direct talks with Leipzig before #Euro2024, but would need a generous payment structure to proceed. Priority is Nico Williams for Barca.
Bayern and Manchester United ones to watch for Olmo. Suitors feel his release clause won’t change much. Leipzig will still be open to business even after it expires, and on similar terms.
Former Bayern Munich center-back Niklas Süle fell badly out of shape last season, but now…the big man is….BACK!
Süle, who has always had immense talent, now is building up the work ethic required to stay at top level of play — and his Borussia Dortmund bosses are very pleased:
⚫️ Borussia Dortmund CEO Watzke on Niklas Süle: “I was thinking: my god, we’ve got a new player! It’s admirable how he’s managed that”.
“He’s in excellent shape and I prefer it a thousand times better when someone realises a mistake and makes the appropriate deductions”. pic.twitter.com/JwLH0YkUIx

Bayern Munich is a busy bee (no offense Borussia Dortmund) these days.
There are many wheels in motion for the club, which leaves us plenty to chat about, so let’s get to it. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
- Some quick programming notes.
- João Palhinha finally arrives at Bayern Munich…now what? Where Palhinha fits, whose roster spot could be in jeopardy…let’s dig in.
- The latest on Matthijs de Ligt’s rumored move to Manchester United — and why Jonathan Tah potentially taking his place is a downgrade.
- FIFA career mode in the front office?
- Manuel Neuer really might be considering a longer run…will it be with Bayern Munich?
- Is Leroy Sané really on Bayern Munich’s transfer list?
- Reviews of the latest episodes of The Boys and House of the Dragon.
- A shout out to Suedkurve Toronto (@SuedkurveTO on X):
Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané would not change much about how his career has unfolded.
“I get a bit more attention here than I did in England — and that can be both positive and negative. In England I was considered a talent and was just one of many players at Manchester City, so everything was a bit more relaxed for me there. Here I am a German international. But overall I am very happy with how everything has developed,” Sané said.
Sané, though, is going to start 2024/25 behind the 8-ball a bit as he just had surgery and will be missing a few weeks (at a minimum). After a very up-and-down 2023/24 campaign, the winger is now — allegedly — on Bayern Munich’s sale list as well.
Whatever happened, it will be important for Sané to play a consistent season whether that is at Bayern Munich or somewhere else.
Atlético Madrid could make a play for Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg:
Atlético Madrid are on the hunt for a new midfielder, and Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is seemingly their most preferred option given he could be available on a cut-price deal.
This did make me laugh…I have to admit it:
With Germany out of the EUROs, Bayern Munich’s activity is heating up in a big way.
Transfer signings, transfer rumors, and everything in between is hitting the news cycle, but what is going on with Bayern Munich is so much more than all of that.
This is truly a new era at the club and within two years, this team could be completely unrecognizable. Is that a good thing? Was it needed? Let’s talk about that and more on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show. Check out what we have on tap:
- We’ve heard the back and forth on negativity toward Bayern Munich, but let’s talk about why some fans are not feeling uber confident in how things are going.
- Is it time to start worrying about Harry Kane? He looks zapped for England and is settling into playing the same kind of facilitator role that earned him a little ire at Bayern Munich.
- Checking in on the latest transfer rumors surrounding Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, and Serge Gnabry.
FC Barcelona and Frenkie de Jong might not be headed for schism after all — mostly because the Catalan do not believe they will get a fair offer for the Dutchman:
Barcelona are expected to keep Frenkie de Jong despite previous plans to try and sell him this summer. The club do not believe they will receive lucrative enough offers to make a sale worthwhile.
Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly prepping a massive offer to Napoli for Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia:
Paris Saint-Germain have made a bid worth €200m for Napoli duo Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but the former Serie A champions do not want to sell.
Bayern Munich is now at the forefront of Bavarian Podcast Works once more as Germany is out of the EUROs. We discuss Bayern transfers, Germany’s exit and more in this episode:
