Bayern Munich is not long away from starting their preseason preparations for the 2024/25 seasons with a full squad after all of club’s international return from their respective duties with their nations. Naturally, they are given extra time off to rest and recover, but once all of those players are back, Bayern will depart for the Audi Summer Tour in South Korea where they will have a friendly against Tottenham Hotspur. When they return to Germany, they will stay play out a host of friendlies before the Bundesliga season starts, dawning the beginning of the Vincent Kompany era.
For Kompany, he will be eagerly anticipating the arrival of his German contingent returning from EURO 2024 duty, but he will have some fresh injury concern with winger Leroy Sané. The Germany international was playing through a pubic bone injury for the majority of the end of Bayern Munich’s season when they were fighting for a place in the Champions League final at Wembley. In the matches against both Arsenal and Real Madrid, Sané was playing through pain and his training minutes were managed to prevent him from aggravating the injury even further, going as far as keeping him out of the squad for Bundesliga matches after Bayer Leverkusen had already clinched the title.
Per information from kicker (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern is considering the idea of not taking Sané on the preseason tour of South Korea so that he can continue to work on rehab from his injury that he had successful surgery for. The club is scheduled to be in South Korea from July 31st to to August 5th, at which point they will be returning to Munich to continue their preseason preparations.
For Sané, the decision from the club to leave him behind in Munich or not coincides with rumors that he could be a player Bayern could wind up selling during this summer’s transfer window. Still, though, it is only speculation at this point, and Sané still has a contract at Bayern that runs through June 2025.
