Bayern Munich and Germany star Jamal Musiala’s EURO 2024 run is over after a heartbreaking loss in the quarterfinals to Spain. While the Spanish play in the Final vs. England on Sunday, Musiala has a chance to enjoy his summer before the grind of the upcoming Bayern season starts.
The 21-year-old was one of the brightest performers at the EUROs and certainly the star of the show for Germany, starting every game under Julian Nagelsmann and scoring three goals. He also went up against some of the best in the world, though — including a newly rising superstar every bit as precocious as he himself once was.
“I liked Lamine Yamal from Spain,” Musiala answered when asked who stood out at the tournament (via @iMiaSanMia, as captured by Az journalist Maximilian Koch). “I like players who are strong in 1v1 situations, who are brave and who make the game beautiful.”
Of course, that describes Musiala himself as much as it does the FC Barcelona kid — who at 16 became the youngest goal-scorer in EURO 2024 history with his worldie vs. France. As they say, game recognize game.
