When Bayern Munich players become politically involved (usually for good causes), not everyone is happy; however, Bayern President Herbert Hainer feels that Bayern must stand for tolerance and inclusion per @iMiaSanMia.
“FC Bayern must be approachable, in touch with its fans. As president, I want to be a point of contact; the exchange with our fans is important to me. FC Bayern has always been strong in social and political terms, particularly thanks to the commitment of Uli Hoeneß , and this must be continued and expanded. The shift to the extreme right across Europe worries me, and if everyone in this world just cooks their own soup, we’ll face enormous problems. Our club stands for cosmopolitanism, tolerance, diversity and inclusion, it should offer everyone a home — these are also my personal values,” Hainer told Abendzeitung.
Hainer’s words are a reflection of Bayern’s long history of political and social involvement.
Hainer also spoke about Giovanne Elber’s involvement with the club.
“Just recently, before the European elections, we produced a clip at FC Bayern in which Giovane Elber, who has lived here for 30 years and has a German passport, says: “Be proud of Europe” – We must counter divisive forces by saying that there are many good reasons to stand up for our democracy,” said Hainer.
Hopefully, Bayern continues to be a club that lives by its values even though, sometimes the club must be held to high standards by the fans. Hainer is striking the right tone with his words.
