In the summer of 2019, Bayern Munich signed two 16-year-old, promising talents from Chelsea FC: A certain Jamal Musiala and Bright Arrey-Mbi.
While Musiala has flourished in Munich, Arrey-Mbi struggled to establish himself in Munich. After similarly floundering on loan at FC Köln, he finally found a home with Hannover 96 in the 2. Bundesliga, first spending the 22/23 season on loan before moving to Hannover 96 permanently for an undisclosed fee in 2023.
One year on, Arrey-Mbi’s exploits have caught the eye of Sporting Braga over in Portugal, according to Fabrizio Romano, with a “verbal agreement” in place for a €6 million fee. This could also benefit Bayern. Though there was no official confirmation of the fee involved in moving from Bayern to Hannover, there were reports that Hannover wanted to renegotiate a potential deal for Arrey-Mbi, with Bayern eventually letting him leave for no fee in exchange for a certain sell on clause in his contract. If there is any truth to these reports, then Bayern could net a couple of million euros as a result of this transfer.
BFW Analysis
When Arrey-Mbi joined Bayern, he was seen as a top talent, but was never able to put it all together. Now he has moved on and found his way to one of the most decorated teams in Portugal, which could also qualify for the Europa League next season. If the talented 21-year-old can seize this chance the same way he did at Hannover, then the sky is the limit for him. Good luck, Bright.
