A snippet from Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund’s press conference (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia) shows that he rates Paris Saint-Germain hotshot Xavi Simons, who spent the last season on loan at RB Leipzig: “Very good player. He played a very good European championship and a very good season with Leipzig. He’s developed really well in the past few years. I think he’ll have a really good career at the highest level. He has everything, mentality, character, he’s an extraordinary player.”
The 21-year-old Simons bagged eight goals and 13 assists for the Lawnballers last season and has a market value of €80 million (Transfermarkt). Bayern is doing everything possible to reinforce their squad and so far, they have landed three players: Hiroki Ito (Stuttgart), Michael Olise (Crystal Palace), and João Palhinha (Fulham). Offloading current players is also on the cards but remains to be seen who goes.
