There was worry written all over the stadium as Bayern Munich’s Hiroki Itō went down during the club’s 1-1 draw in a friendly against FC Düren, soon replaced by youngster Adam Aznou. There was prevailing hope that this was just a precautionary measure or that the injury would only keep the former VfB Stuttgart player out for a few days, but no such luck.
After the game, @iMiaSanMia captured Max Eberl’s resigned confirmation of the serious injury: “His foot is broken. He will be out for a long time.”
Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk captured Eberl adding that the “metatarsal is probably broken.”
What a shame this is for Itō, who only missed six games in three years through injury for VfB Stuttgart but seems set to exceed that amount for the Bavarians before he has even kicked a ball in a competitive match for his new club.
Get well soon, Itō.
