Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah is slowing down as the two clubs struggle to reach an agreement for the 28-year-old and the delay is affecting both clubs. While Bayern’s transfer plans are put on hold, Bayer Leverkusen need to be wary of how the ongoing saga and possible departure of one of their most senior players affects their squad.
Leverkusen’s manager, a certain Xabi Alonso, offered his thoughts on the topic, as captured by @iMiaSanMia: “I’m planning with Jona because he’s so important to us, on the pitch, but also off the pitch. That’s my idea at the moment. But I’m not turning a blind eye to the situation. We’ll see what happens. He’s fully focused, a top professional. I have no reason to complain.”
If the German international does end up leaving, Leverkusen have been linked to signing free agent Mats Hummels and/or Joël Matip.
