Bayern Munich have already been relatively busy in the summer transfer window as far is incoming players are concerned, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Sporting director Christoph Freund had event recently remarked that “not much has happened yet” in the transfer window, even though the club has already brought in João Palhinha, Michael Olise, and Hiroki Ito in addition to getting Josip Stanišić back from his loan stint at Bayer Leverkusen.
Of course, there are still a handful of players that can wind up leaving before the summer transfer window closes at the end of next month, and players that could come in. Former club president Uli Hoeneß and current board member for sport Max Eberl have both recently expressed the sentiment that the club will probably need to sell a few players to be able to financially justify making more signings during the remainder of the window. They will need to be able to balance the books come the end of August.
Per information from Sky Sports journalist Kerry Hau (via @iMiaSanMia), both Freund and Eberl will continue to work on transfer dealings while they are with the squad in South Korea for Bayern’s brief Audi Summer Tour. They are already in Seoul and they will be in the country until August 5th and they will have two friendlies against Tottenham Hotspur while they are there. During that period, a lot could happen in terms of Bayern’s transfer business for both outbound and inbound players.
As things currently stand, Bayern is still working on the sale of both Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt to Manchester United, but the former’s move is more on the cards than the latter’s. The Premier League club had cooled off interest in De Ligt, but are very keen on bringing in the Moroccan international.
On the inbound end, Bayern could very well miss out on a trio of transfer targets in Xavi Simons, Dani Olmo, and Désiré Doué. For Simons, he is looking set to go on another loan spell with RB Leipzig while Olmo is leaning towards a Barcelona move. For the case of Doué, Paris Saint-Germain have still offered the highest bid for the young talent, having submitted a bid of 60 million euros to Stade Rennes; more than Bayern have been able to offer.
