Thomas Müller’s name is completely synonymous with both Bayern Munich and German football as a collective. Nothing seems that it could be more Bavarian and Mia San Mia than the Raumdeuter leading a humba at the Südkurve after a monstrous performance at the Allianz Arena; and there has been absolutely no shortage of such an occasion throughout Müller’s career for both Bayern and the German national team.
Bayern is currently in Kim min-Jae’s native South Korea as a part of the Audi Summer Tour and the center back has been playing the part of a partial gracious host for the rest of his teammates. He had traveled there prior to the rest of the squad and has been giving his teammates a lay of the land in Seoul.
During a press conference alongside Müller, the former SSC Napoli man sang the praises of Bayern’s number 25, referring to him as “legend” for both Bayern and the German national team. “Thomas is a legend – not only for Bayern but he’s also a German legend. He’s there for his teammates and always trying to help them and make them feel comfortable. You always like to be around legends like him,” he enthused (via @iMiaSanMia). This was shortly after, in typical Müller fashion, he asked Kim if his Korean speaking was as good as former Bayern, Germany, and USMNT manager Jürgen Klinsmann, who most recently had a stint as manager of the men’s South Korean national team.
While his time as a regular feature and starter for both club and country are now starting to dwindle down, Müller’s teammates are still able to take in the true appreciation of being able to play alongside him. He’s made over 700 appearances for Bayern and over 100 for Germany and has collected his fair share of goals, assists, and titles along the way. Vincent Kompany and company (no pun intended) will certainly be hoping he is able to add to that tally this season and celebrate multiple pieces of silverware by the end of it.
