Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Rennes winger Désiré Doué could be taking a positive turn per a few different reports.
Let’s dig in.
According to Foot Mercato reporter Santi Aouna (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich has taken a “considerable” lead over Paris Saint-Germain in the competition for Doué:
Désiré Doué has not made a final decision yet. But Bayern have taken a considerable lead with Rennes in the past 72 hours with an offer close to the French club’s demands. Bayern have also taken the lead with the player. At the moment, Doué’s preference is Bayern’s project.
Not every report indicated that Bayern Munich was as much of a “considerable” favorite to land Doué as Aouna, though. RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins stated that Bayern Munich has a “small” lead in the race for the French midfielder (via @iMiaSanMia):
Désiré Doué has not said yes to Bayern. But the German club has taken a small lead over PSG at the moment. PSG are still in the race.
Finally, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (via @iMiaSanMia) issued his own report indicating that nothing was close to being finalized between any of the parties involved:
Désiré Doué has not announced his final decision to Bayern or PSG yet. Bayern have been pushing a lot with Rennes to agree on a package in excess of €55m, which was appreciated by the player. But PSG are still there and are not giving up as things stand.
Should Bayern Munich “just Doué it?”
