New Bayern Munich signing João Palhinha has had a curious career. He has spent a lot of it fighting for prominence at Sporting Clube de Portugal, one of the most decorated clubs in Portugal. He then moved to Fulham FC for two years before his move to Bayern was confirmed. Both are extremely significant clubs in their own right, with Sporting CP earning far more trophies, but neither can lay claim one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Speaking to fans in Seoul, as recorded by Kerry Hau and captured by @iMiaSanMia, Palhinha spoke of that exact childhood desire, to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world and how it is now finally being realized: “Since I was young I always dreamed to play for a big team. And this is one of the biggest teams in the world.”
Palhinha then turns to Thomas Müller, sitting next to him. “And to share the pitch with a legend like Thomas is a reason for me to be proud.”
In typical Müller fashion, he reacted to being called a legend by pulling a silly face before smiling it off. Now that Palhinha has the chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, with a legend such as Müller, perhaps he can be one of the few who can look back at his childhood and see all his dreams have come true.
