Bayer Leverkusen want an answer from Bayern Munich over a transfer for center-back Jonathan Tah per this report from German news outlet Bild (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia):
Leverkusen have given Bayern a deadline to finalize the transfer of Jonathan Tah because they want clarity for their squad planning. Leverkusen are pushing for a final decision from Bayern. In Tah’s case, if there’s no offer by the weekend, Tah will stay in Leverkusen and go into the final year of his contract. Leverkusen want €30m, otherwise there won’t be a transfer.
A price tag of €30 million for a defender who is most probably not going to replicate the most successful season he has had, and he who is average at best during the entirety of his career, seems like a big risk. All this at the expense of Matthijs de Ligt, whom Premier League outfit Manchester United is haring after. The Red Devils are also planning a double swoop for De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui as Erik ten Hag aims to put together his old Ajax side.
In the end, kicker’s Georg Holzner via @iMiaSanMia has reported that Bayern will not sign Tah after all, decision made by the board:
Jonathan Tah will not join FC Bayern. The club’s bosses have made the decision, regardless of the potential sale of Matthijs de Ligt and the Leverkusen deadline.
