According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Kerry Hau, Bayern Munich has offered 2020 Champions League hero Kingsley Coman to FC Barcelona and former Bayern coach Hansi Flick.
However, the move really would only be a contingency plan should Barca not be able to Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams:
Kingsley Coman has been offered to FC Barcelona. If desired player Nico Williams does not move to the Catalans, Coman could become an alternative.
After signing Dani Olmo, Barça will have to make several high-profile sales to be able to afford and register new stars. Hansi Flick is still a big fan of Coman, but the topic is not hot yet.
As of today, FC Bayern has no concrete offer for Coman. The record champions would even be willing to loan the Frenchman (contract until 2027) for a season – preferably with an obligation to buy. Coman’s former club PSG is also continuing to monitor the situation.
Hau’s Sky Sport colleague, Florian Plettenberg, added some additional context, too:
In the past few days, there has also been contact between Barcelona and Kingsley #Coman’s representatives.
Barca has been informed that a loan deal with FC Bayern is possible ✔️
Since Barcelona has not yet fully given up on Nico #Williams, the situation with Coman is not currently a hot topic. However, it could heat up towards the end of August if Barcelona manages to offload some players (also to free up wages).
Hansi Flick and Coman have a mutual respect for each other. Coman returned to team training with Bayern a few days ago.
Right now, it seems as if Barca is going to battle until the deadline for Williams, who had an impressive showing for Spain at the EURO 2024 tournament. As for Coman, he might just have to hang in and play the waiting game.
Speaking of Barca, FC Barcelona would like to bring back both João Félix and João Cancelo, but needs to get them on the cheap:
Barcelona want to re-sign both Manchester City’s João Cancelo and Atlético Madrid’s João Félix on loan but are not prepared to pay any fees to get deals done. The plan is to wait until late in the window to force the two sides to agree to cut-price deals.
On a sidenote, what has Barca done to Hansi Flick?
Given the subject matter, there is not much need for a preamble when it comes to Bayern Munich — this offseason has been filled with peaks and valleys. Let’s discuss those and a lot more on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show. This is what we have on tap:
- Bayern Munich is reportedly going to pass on a transfer of Bayer Leverkusen center-back Jonathan Tah — even if it sells Matthijs de Ligt to Manchester United.
- What Vincent Kompany’s plan to use Joshua Kimmich in the central midfield means for João Palhinha, Leon Goretzka, Konrad Laimer — and the biggest loser, Aleksandar Pavlović. Plus, how this affects the right-back candidates, Josip Stanišić and Sacha Boey.
- What do we need to look for during Bayern Munich’s friendly vs. Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
- Finally, we are taking some dragon fire straight to that House of the Dragon season finale…yup, it was terrible and confirmed that this season was all about treading water — a mortal sin for a show.
Should Bayern Munich sell Alphonso Davies, Fran Garcia looks like he could become the odd man out at Real Madrid:
Given the natural challenges that arrive with having multiple players for a single position, Real Madrid must look to sacrifice one of the existing left-backs should Davies arrive.
As revealed in a report by AS, it will not be Ferland Mendy but Fran Garcia who faces the axe in such a situation.
Ancelotti counts heavily on the French defender and his defensive abilities. While Garcia has not done much wrong, the manager’s pecking order makes him the best candidate to serve as the scapegoat.
Niclas Füllkrug seems pretty happy to have made the move to West Ham United:

We are in the home stretch of the summer transfer window and Bayern Munich still has some moves to make to help thin out the herd on the roster. Who might stay? Who might go? That will all be determined in the next few weeks.
Given all of that, we have a lot to discuss. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
- The season is starting to feel real isn’t it?
- With less than a month left in the transfer window, Bayern Munich has to finalize some moves and potentially make a few others. Check out Bayern Munich’s final “for sale” list.
- Why Xavi Simons chose RB Leipzig over Bayern and why it might not be the last we hear on him in these parts.
- The latest on Joshua Kimmich and why it is not such a certainty that he will sign a contract extension.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen reportedly wants a move to Paris Saint-Germain, but not Chelsea FC:
Victor Osimhen is not interested in a move to Chelsea and is focused on joining Paris Saint-Germain, who cannot afford to make a bid for the Napoli striker until they sell either Randal Kolo Muani or Goncalo Ramos.
Chelsea might now turn its focus to RB Leipzig’s Lois OPenda per Simon Phillips (via 90Min.com):
Instead, Chelsea are considering a move for RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda.
Bayern Munich went to Seoul, South Korea and came away with an impressive win over Tottenham Hotspur, dominating the game and scoring two goals. Meanwhile, on the PR side of things, Thomas Müller has been getting more attention than ever. Players, coaches, and executives can’t stop talking about how much of a “legend” he is, leading to a oversaturation of common buzzwords. Is something afoot?
In this episode, INNN discusses the following topics:
- The five major things Vincent Kompany got RIGHT vs Spurs.
- Why this matters for the upcoming season.
- Why some players seemed to settle into the new system despite a lack of prior training.
- Similarities (and differences) to Pep, Nagelsmann, and Flick.
- Putting the brakes on the hype train (just a little).
- Why loaning Bryan Zaragoza seems like a good idea.
- Conspiracy: Bayern Munich has begun to plan the “end” of Thomas Müller, and the current PR is a tool to make that happen.
It might be fair to ask if Naby Keita should have ever left RB Leipzig. The midfielder’s tenure at Werder Bremen is over:

Naby #Keita will leave Werder Bremen after one year as the club confirm:
„Naby Keïta will not return to the team training of the Bundesliga squad, but will continue to follow an individual training program and seek a new challenge.“
„It was a very open conversation in which we jointly came to the conclusion that this is the most sensible course of action in the current situation (…) Since his sporting situation has not changed, he would like to seek a new challenge. Together with his advisor, we want to realize this as soon as possible,“ explains Clemens Fritz, Head of Football at @werderbremen.
Despite rumors indicated that he might be sold, Jack Grealish wants to stay at Manchester City:
Jack Grealish wants to stay with Manchester City this summer despite reports he could leave in search of more minutes.
Bayern Munich came out of the gates flying against Tottenham Hotspur during the friendly between the two teams in South Korea.
In what was — by far — Bayern Munich’s best half of play during this preseason, the team was electric, played with high energy, and generally made life hell for Tottenham. Using an early goal from Gabriel Vidović, Bayern Munich never really relented until late in the match to ultimately capture a 2-1 victory.
Needless to say, it was an impressive showing, so let’s not delay the excitement and get talking. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
- A look at the starting XI.
- A rundown of the scoring and subs.
- Some general thoughts on just how good — and FUN — Bayern Munich looked.
- A pat on the back for Vincent Kompany.
- If Bayern Munich can get this version of Serge Gnabry, there is no reason to keep trying to sell him.
- Did any concerns arise? Well, yeah, but just a few.
