Bayern Munich Frauen star Giulia Gwinn did it again and scored the lone goal for Germany in the squad’s 1-0 win over Spain in the Olympic bronze medal match.
Gwinn’s penalty kick in the 65th minute was the difference maker in the contest, which capped off a successful tournament for the German Frauen.
There was high drama, though, in the final minute of extra time when Alexia Putellas lined up for a penalty kick, which was subsequently stopped by Ann Katrin Berger, who had six saves in the match. Berger was incredible during the tournament overall.

A cool note from our own Phillip Quinn: Spain has been held scoreless in four of their last 68 games. Germany are two of those four.
That is pretty incredible.
Congrats to Germany on an impressive run…imagine what might have been possible if Lena Oberdorf did not suffer that ill-timed (and devastating) injury just prior to the Olympics.
