Rennes wonderkid Désiré Doué has been considered to be the apple of Bayern Munich’s eye for the summer transfer window, but more player sales were needed before the Rekordmeister’s added another wing, per a report from kicker journalist Frank Linkesch.
Via @iMiaSanMia:
Despite the imminent sale of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, the internal decision at Bayern is that one more attacking player would have to leave the club for Désiré Doué to be signed. Because otherwise there would be an oversupply in attacking positions. The first candidate is Kingsley Coman. A loan with an option or obligation to buy is conceivable – as Bayern would at least save his salary [@FrankLinkesch, @kicker]
BFW Analysis
Bayern Munich should have gotten him!
Bayern is in need of squad rejuvenation and this was an opportunity not to be missed. Doué (19) could form the backbone of the next generation alongside Mathys Tel (19) — with 21-year-old duo Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz (a rumored transfer target for next summer) forming a German connection to go with the French one.
Thomas Müller is retiring, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has already departed, and it is time for the younger generation to come in. No better time than the first year of a new coach as Bayern looks to shed some big salaries off its wage bill. Coman (28), Serge Gnabry (29), or even Leroy Sané (28) could fit the bill — and all are at or approaching the point where they need to weigh the next steps in their careers.
Maybe things will fall apart, but — as of now — it looks like Doué is headed to PSG.
