Man United have no intention of signing Ben Chilwell from Chelsea this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Manchester United’s left-back issues have been well documented this year. Tyrell Malacia hasn’t played for about eighteen months now, while Luke Shaw will always pick up injuries.
Erik ten Hag has no doubt mulled over signing a new player in that area of the field, though as things stand, it looks unlikely.
One man linked with potentially filling that void is Ben Chilwell. The Chelsea man has been deemed surplus to requirements by Enzo Maresca, with the English left-back currently exiled from their first-team activities.
Over the last 24 hours, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed United’s stance on potentially signing Chiwell – and it looks like a non-starter.
Apparently, United have no interest in the ex-Leicester City man, while no talks are ongoing right now.

Perhaps as a long-shot swap deal involving Jadon Sancho I could see some use for Chilwell, but it feels smart to steer clear of him.
Chilwell’s injury record is just as bad as Shaw’s and bringing in another sick note doesn’t feel like the wisest idea.
If United cannot see the right option out there, then it makes sense to hold fire and continue to use Diogo Dalot in that left-back slot. My only issue is that if the man from Portugal or Noussair Mazraoui picks up an injury, the Reds could be in deep trouble in that area of the field.
That said, it does make sense to stay away from Chilwell, despite all his talent and ability.
