One West Ham United youngster has drawn comparisons with an England international stalwart.
West Ham are well known for having one of the very best academies in England, with numerous high level youngsters coming through the ranks right now.
Lewis Orford is one of those, and he hit the headlines this week when he signed a new five-year contract with the Hammers.
Whilst Orford is one of the best of the current crop of youngsters, there are plenty of other teenagers who are pushing him for the title of the most talented player in the group
One of them may well not be well known by the majority of Hammers fans though.
However, it seems like the club’s official website’s latest article on him will give him the attention he deserves.
West Ham youngster Mason Terry draws huge praise
The young goalkeeper already has more than 40 senior games under his belt – a mightily impressive tally for a teenager.
That experience could end up being vital for him as he tries to make the step up from under-21 level to the first-team.
The 19-year-old Hammers stopper, who stands at 6ft 4in tall, is currently spending the season on loan with AFC Hornchurch.
Mason Terry has conceded just seven goals in seven league games this season, keeping three clean sheets in the process.
As a result, Hornchurch have the joint fourth best defensive record in the National League South.
And now he’s been compared to an England regular…
Mason Terry compared to Jordan Pickford
Jordan Pickford, 30, has 68 international caps for England to his name.
He also has 464 club appearances to his name, including 29 outings in non-league with Darlington FC and Alfreton Town.
Pickford has been incredibly consistent throughout his career, and is widely considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.
The Hammers official club website WHUFC.com has drawn a comparison between Pickford and Mason Terry, due to the Everton stopper’s background in non league.
Let’s hope that the West Ham youngster goes on to enjoy a career similar to that of the former Sunderland man.
Even if Mason Terry goes on to pick up one cap for his country, he would have been a huge success for West Ham.
