Amad was handed another start for Man United last night, with the man from the Ivory Coast grabbing his chance with both hands.
Manchester United certainly played their best game of the young season so far away at Southampton yesterday lunchtime. The Red Devils controlled the game after a shaky opening half an hour, with Erik ten Hag’s men more than deserving of all three points.
No doubt this will be a huge confidence booster for the whole dressing room, with United now looking to use this as a positive platform to build on from moving forward.
Perhaps no singular player can take more from the match than Amad. Although the tricky winger didn’t score, he continues to prove his worth to Ten Hag and his coaching staff, putting in a truly complete performance.
The United star was effective on both sides of the ball, which is exactly what’s required from any modern-day winger.
Amad created a huge six chances for his teammates, which was twice more than any other player. The ex-Atalanta man also had nine touches in the opposition box. He did grab one assist for the Marcus Rashford goal.
Defensively, Amad made four ball recoveries, while winning three tackles. It shows that he is more than willing to put in the graft and do the tracking back as and when required, too.

Honestly, it was impressive. He’s following on from a positive pre-season and that’s all we can ask for from the 22-year-old, who is now making himself an undroppable player as we approach a busy period in the season.
It’s a tough problem for Ten Hag to have as he now has three quality wingers for just two positions. Yes, someone is always going to be disappointed at being left out, but it means United now have a genuine goal threat off the bench, assuming all can stay fit.
For Amad, it’s now about finding that consistency and continuing to add the finishing touches to his game. If I’m being picky yesterday, he could have taken one or two more shots at earlier times in order to test the goalkeeper, but that will come as he is given more starts.
Well played, Amad!
