West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen has been very impressed indeed by one of his teammates in training.
Jarrod Bowen set up Danny Ings for West Ham‘s last-minute equaliser against Fulham yesterday.
It was a difficult afternoon at Craven Cottage for Julen Lopetegui and his players, and the West Ham player ratings reflect exactly that.
We kind of got away with one against Fulham yesterday. The point actually felt like a win, given the circumstances that surrounded our late goal.
There is quite clearly still huge room for improvement, and Lopetegui needs to drill his players as much as he can during training before we face Chelsea next weekend.
Speaking of training, club captain Jarrod Bowen has been hugely impressed by one player at Rush Green – someone who we’ve barely seen this season.
Jarrod Bowen says West Ham player has been quality in training
Lopetegui has strengthened the Hammers squad beyond all recognition over the past two months or so.
As a result, there are numerous players who have a serious fight on their hands, if they’re to play regularly this season.
One of those players is Ings. A player West Ham tried desperately to shift in the summer, the 32-year-old sent a strong message to Lopetegui yesterday.
Ings bagged a last-minute equaliser for the Hammers against Fulham, and Lopetegui praised him to the hilt after the match.
Bowen raved about his teammate as well, when speaking to WHUFC.com after the game:
“Ingsy took the chance beautifully,” the captain said. “I don’t think anyone has ever doubted his quality, we see it every day in training. What we’re trying to create here is when you’re not in the starting eleven, when you come on the pitch it’s about making an impact.“
Danny Ings sends big message
Ings will be the first to admit that he simply hasn’t done enough since moving to the London Stadium.
Before he came on yesterday, he had scored just four goals for the Hammers in 20 months.
Ings was ill-suited to David Moyes’ system at the London Stadium, and he has only been given 13 minutes of competitive action under Lopetegui.
However, he proved yesterday just how good he is when he has top-class players operating in and around him.
Danny Ings certainly isn’t the future for West Ham, but he definitely can do a job for us between now and the end of the season.
One thing’s for sure, the West Ham striker sent a big message to Julen Lopetegui yesterday, and it was great to see.
Jarrod Bowen has clearly been very impressed by what he’s seen of Danny Ings during West Ham training, and that’s very encouraging to hear.
