David Moyes is being touted for a surprising potential move, as his agent has reportedly put his name forward for the AC Milan managerial gig.
The Scotsman has been fluttering his eyelashes and signalling his availability recently, even making an appearance on an Everton fan podcast titled “David Moyes: My Goodison Park Home.” Moyes has been heavily linked to a possible return to Everton, should current manager Sean Dyche be dismissed—a scenario that could materialise if Everton faces another Premier League loss this weekend.
However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Moyes’ agent has positioned him as a candidate should Milan decide to part ways with their current gaffer. However, the world of managerial changes is like a poorly organised game of musical chairs.
AC Milan fans previously dismissed the idea of hiring current Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui over concerns about his perceived dull playing style, which makes it unlikely they would warm to the idea of Moyes, who is hardly Kevin Keegan in this philosophy.
Paulo Fonseca, Milan’s current manager, was thrice in the running for the West Ham job before taking charge in Italy this summer. Yet, Milan’s season has started off unimpressively, leading to speculation about his future.
Moyes appears keen to jump back into management after deciding against renewing his contract with West Ham at the end of last season. Whilst football often throws up surprises, the idea of Moyes landing in Milan would certainly be an unexpected turn of events given his failure in Spain and the Milan fans desire for the tippy tappy stuff.
