Man United are somewhat keen on bringing Angel Gomes back to Old Trafford.
Manchester United Football Club certainly strengthened the playing squad during the transfer window, adding in real quality all over the pitch.
Erik ten Hag’s work is nowhere near complete. Further additions are needed sooner rather than later, as the Old Trafford side look to put themselves back among the Premier League elite.
Planning for next summer is already well underway, with the 20-time Premier League winners scouring the globe for their next potential addition. It seems as though the club have stumbled on a familiar face in the process; Angel Gomes.
According to Give Me Sport, United are among the sides keen on signing the England attacking midfielder, who made his Three Lions debut earlier this month. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be eyeing a move to sign Gomes.
United’s interest in signing the 24-year-old is said to be at a ‘small level’ at this point in time, as Gomes enters into the final twelve months of his contract at Lille.
Gomes was the youngest ever play to represent United back in 2017, when he came on as a substitute for Wayne Rooney. However, he wasn’t able to make a permanent breakthrough into the United side.
A move to Lille has allowed the attacking midfielder to flourish and now he’s looking to secure a big-money move on a free transfer, significantly upping his current £12,000-a-week wages.
I’d love to see Gomes back at Old Trafford, though I’m not quite sure where he fits in. There’s no way he displaces Bruno Fernandes from the side and unless Gomes is happy to sit in behind the man from Portugal, I do not see this move happening.
