Many thousands of you clicked on one of my articles last week: It seems I am not the only one anxious for changes at the back following lukewarm, error strewn performances against Manchester City and Fulham.
Having entitled the post ‘Where’s Todibo’ it was obvious from the comments and the many, many thousands of times it was read that I wasn’t alone in thinking that! Many wrote comments suggesting Mavropanos wasn’t performing well enough. Some critics actually went so far as to confirm ‘Mav’ wasn’t good enough for the Premier league which seems a bit harsh: He just has errors in him.
According to a report in footballinsider247.com this Friday afternoon, West Ham are going to ring the changes and ‘rotate’ – their words not mine – at the back to bring Jean-Clair Todibo in for a full starting PL debut.
This is exciting if it is true, as we are taking another step towards placing our ‘best’ team onto the pitch. Already I wish I was going to the game.
Gonzo will be able to tell you first hand how Todibo fares, if you don’t get to watch it on the telly. Todibo did appear for the Carabao Cup match but was subbed at half time, looking a little off the pace – that was three plus weeks ago. Apart from that he has played as a substitute.
After the UEFA Conference League’s post of him ‘sweeping up’ yesterday on their twitter page, I’m really excited to see him start to move towards decent form, by getting some much-needed match time. Starting against Chelsea will be a challenge, whoever lines up alongside Max Kilman.
It is just a shame if we won’t have Emerson fit: Would be nice to have our ‘top four’ back-four all starting together. This Chelsea fixture is getting more exciting by the minute: Todibo possibly starting – plus signs from The Irons that last week’s poor first half performance created by a badly judged starting XI will be worked on and – possibly – the mythical fast front three of Summerville, Bowen and Kudus might – possibly – be in Lopetegui’s mind.
