Julen Lopetegui has confirmed his starting XI for the West Ham United vs Chelsea clash today.
West Ham play host to Chelsea in the Premier League today, and Julen Lopetegui has finally selected the starting XI that we all wanted to see, or at least close to it.
Paul Merson has predicted a 1-1 draw for this afternoon’s game, and that would actually be a decent result for us.
However, a win would be a really big boost for everyone involved with the Hammers.
Progress has been slow on the pitch for us so far this season, but there have been signs that things are moving in the right direction.
The way we pressed Manchester City high up the pitch at times was really encouraging to see, and the players showed some real resilience last time out against Fulham.
However, I would like to see us move the ball a lot quicker in transition.
Hopefully we get the total package this afternoon against Chelsea.
West Ham starting XI vs Chelsea confirmed
Julen Lopetegui needs to ensure that his players are well up for this one.
Chelsea need a win just as much as we do, so it will be an incredibly tough game this one.
So how has the Hammers boss lined up?
He has made two changes from the team that drew with Fulham last weekend, as confirmed by the club’s official X account.
Alphonse Areola, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Max Kilman, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Emerson Palmieri, Guido Rodriguez, Edson Alvarez, Lucas Paqueta, Crysencio Summerville, Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen
Lucas Paqueta and Crysencio Summerville come into the side in place of Tomas Soucek and Michail Antonio.
Hopefully, the boys take the game to Chelsea from the very first whistle.
We all know that the Blues will represent a really stern test for the Hammers today, but we have the players needed to really hurt them.
The Hammers have a great recent home record against the west Londoners, having won two and drawn one of our last three home meetings with them.
I fancy another win for West Ham against Chelsea today, especially after seeing that starting XI.
I’m going 2-1 West Ham, COYI X.
